White noise

Jack Gladney teaches at the University of Hitler Science, a small American university he founded. With their populous family, they live their comfortable lives informed by advertising slogans, rumors, and false news. Jack's main concern is to hide from his colleagues that he can't speak German, until one day he discovers that his beloved wife has started taking pills that can't be sold in a pharmacy ... Plus, a mysterious toxic gas cloud has to evacuate the city's population. All of this makes me realize that even in the world of TV, supermarkets, and connections that was believed to be safe, death is inevitably lurking there, which sooner or later everyone will have to face. Don DeLillo (1936-) is one of the central figures in postmodern American literature. His novels have been appearing since the 1970s, a breakthrough brought to him in 1985 by White Noise. In addition to his short stories, essays and plays, he has written a total of seventeen novels, the latest of which, Nulla K, will be published in 2017 by Jelenkor Publishers.
