Avidius Cassius i. s. He was born in 130 as the son of a Syrian merchant. His father had already gained Roman civil rights, and he himself had struggled since his early youth to advance in the army while preserving the old Roman virtues. His determination is rewarded: by serving on the fringes of the empire, he rises higher and higher in the military ranks, until finally i. s. In 172 he became the all-powerful lord of the eastern provinces. The grace of the successful commander-in-chief, Emperor Marcus Aurelius, decides to occupy the throne of Caesar himself, taking the news of the ruler's death.
