The novel pays homage to the women who endure the tide and to the brave who have lived - and still live today - an often heroic and almost always precarious adventure of emigration. María Dueñas Vinuesa was born in 1964 in Puertollano, Spain. He is a professor of English language and literature at the University of Murcia, but has also worked at various universities in North America. He came to the forefront in 2009 with his novel Time Between Stitches, from which a television series was made and translated into 25 languages. María Dueñas has seven brothers and lives in Cartagena.
